If your reading this you have likely done your home work. In the interest of not boring you with a bunch of mechanical basics this little article has assumed you know and understand how diff gears works as a concept and have done the research around the advantages of changing them or the need for it.
However assuming this is your first time or your still learning about these modifications, here is a brief run down. The need or desire to change diff ratios is normally due to the change in rolling diameter of the vehicles wheel and tyre package. Going larger wheels and tyres prevents the Gladiator from achieving top (eighth) gear in the automatic transmission which results int eh vehicle sitting at higher revs on freeway speeds and thus higher fuel consumption. The ratio change allows the vehicle to retain larger wheel and tyre packages and still utilise the full range of the automatic transmission. The ratio change will also assist with offroad and torque requirements.

If your Gladiator has gone up to a 35 inch package in wheel and tyres than the gear ratio change most desired is a ratio to 4.88. If your package has taken you up to a 37 inch set up then you will need to go to 5.13 ratio.
When doing these ratio changes you will need to do both differentials at the same time.
