Lifting a WL Grand Cherokee is not a straight forward as lifting other conventional four wheel drives. If you lift a WL you will need to invest in adjustable upper control arms. Without changing the upper arms you have ZERO adjustment for camber alignment on the front suspension. so while you can lift the Jeep easily, Correcting your Camber Alignment so it doesn’t look like this…

… is impossible without control arm upgrades.
The Secondary challenge the WL has when it comes to modifying it for more aggrieve off road capabilities is the same upper control arm and ball joint set up significantly limits the wheel and tyre options you can fit.
Most owners exploring this simply opt for wheel spacers to solve this issue. Whilst wheel spacers are a pain free solution, owners need to know that in Australia these are not legal as they put significant load on the wheel bearings which can result in premature failure and can be dangerous.
LIFT KIT OPTIONS.
Currently with our research two possible brands are available. At the time of research and publication the Rocky Road kit is America only and will require shipping into Australia. The Dobinson kit is available within Australia through some distributors.
ROCKY ROAD:
Grand Cherokee L / WL Lift Kit
Fits: 2021+ L model Jeep Grand Cherokee. 2wd and 4wd compatible.
Rocky Road’s Grand Cherokee L / WL Lift Kit is designed for the 2021+ Grand Cherokee. This is the only lift on the market which retains your factory springs, so your ride and handling remain unchanged. Suspension warranties will only stand if your retain the factory springs, struts, shocks.
The bottom line is that many Jeep owners do want to spice up their Jeep a bit. Suspensions that change the way a vehicle drives and handles are NOT what most people are looking for. We want a sensible suspension that gets us onto some bigger tires. You have a MUCH better look, and some extra clearance! Something that separates you from other NON-Jeep vehicles on the market.

If this describes you, then Rocky Road has the answer. Our 2021+ Grand Cherokee lifts are all bolt on. No cutting, welding, drilling is required. Since our lift height is no taller than the air-ride suspension at full height, no compromise in the factory warranty on the Jeep.
WL Lift Kit Specs
This 2.5″ suspension lift kit retains the stock suspension springs, and high performance shocks. After installation of a Rocky Road lift, you will still have the same safe and stable handling on your Jeep. It will just be taller, and better!
WL lift kits come with new Heavy Duty control arm systems and rebuildable ball joints. The new control arms are mandatory to achieve proper alignment spec. All Rocky Road components are MADE IN THE USA!
Rocky Road kits use heavy duty steel components and custom machined hardware that mount with your stock suspension front and rear. All Rocky Road Outfitters kits are MADE IN THE USA. The front is raised more than the rear for a more leveled stance, as you can see.
Also included are shock mount relocation systems so that full suspension travel is maintained and vehicle load leveling systems are not altered or upset.
RRO Control Arm/Ball Joint systems are mandatory on these Jeeps in order to achieve proper alignment specifications. Our custom High-Angle ball joints are like nothing seen before in the offroad world. Easily serviced, rebuildable, and with adjustable tension settings. New Rocky Road control arms are included in our kits!
The Rocky Road WL suspension lift system retains your factory springs and strut shocks so your ride quality and load capacity are not impacted.
Grand Cherokee L/WL Lift Kit
Run tires up to 33″ with our Deluxe kit.
Rocky Road’s proprietary design WL strut mounting system mounts external to springs, struts, and shocks and so avoid stiffening the suspension or altering the handling. Your suspension works exactly as it did before the lift was installed. This suspension lift is easily installed, or easily removed. Since the springs, struts, and shocks are not modified, our experience is that this should not impact your suspension warranty.
WL Lift Kit Tolerances
The suspension lift system was capped at about 2.5″ front and 1.8″ rear, so as to not exceed the factory tolerances which are built into this model Jeep as a result of the Airbag equipped suspensions. Our kits also help to level the Jeep for a very attractive stance, as you can see from our photos.
We often receive questions on tire sizing with any of our Jeep lifts…The answer is…. there is no single answer. Wheel size and spacing can make as much or more of a difference as tire size. The design of the WL spindle assembly makes it close quarters for oversize tire fitment. While our lift will create the vertical height you need at the fender and body, you will have to watch the top of the factory spindle for tire clearance. For this reason, we highly recommend installing your lift BEFORE buying your tires so you can confirm the fit at your tire shop on the front, before completing the tire purchase.
PLEASE NOTE: The Rocky Road lift kits are intended for the steel spring Jeeps, not for Quadralift air suspension equipped Jeeps.
Dobinson’s
Even with the Dobinsons lift kit, you will still require the rocky road or equivalent aftermarket upper control arms.
Options and upgrades:
While the Dobinson suspension is an amazing upgrade, your Jeep is the first of its kind to have ZERO adjustment for camber alignment on the front suspension. so while you can lift the Jeep easily, Correcting your Camber Alignment so it doesn’t look like this…

… is impossible without control arm upgrades.
The Rocky Road Alignment Control Arms allow for lifts to be installed and factory spec (or near-to factory spec) alignment to be achieved. This means you do not need to suffer from poor tire wear, compromised handling & safety, or reduced fuel economy. Do it right the first time by installing the Rocky Road Alignment Control Arms when your Dobinson lift is installed.
