The Jeep Renegade runs a Fiat engine with a new technology called Multi Air. These motors a fitted to a number of European vehicles including Alpha Romeos. For some reason Jeep and Fiat made a deal and the engine found its way into the Renegade.
They unfortunately still somewhat experimental and early adopters ended up paying for the teething issues it came with. It seems to have never really gained any real momentum as an innovation to the internal combustion engine, especially with such a rapid movement towards fully electric.
