Jeep Renegade 1.4 Timing Belt replacement

The Jeep Renegade 1.4 Is a Fiat designed engine running a thing called multi air. Basically this is the inlet valves don’t have a camshaft but rather the inlet valves are operated via electronic solenoids. If you want more information on how those engines operate you can click the link below.

How the Multiair engine works.

The 1.4 whilst operating on camshaft does still have a timing belt that needs to be replaced every 90,000kms. To carry out this timing belt replacement you will require speciality locking tools.

The reason for this is because the camshaft pulley does not have a keyway. The cam locking tool bolts into the back of the cylinder head preventing the cam from turning. Without this speciality tool the belt can not be replaced with the timing correct.
