In this project, we originally planned to complete a Series 2 facelift conversion on a WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, as often happens with real world builds, the direction shifted based on parts availability. With a full Series 1 SRT body kit on hand, the decision was made to pivot and carry out a full SRT conversion instead, including aftermarket headlights to complete the look.
The result is a clean, factory style upgrade that dramatically changes the appearance of the vehicle while retaining OEM fitment.
Our video walks through the installation of the SRT side skirts and front bar, showing the process from start to finish. While the job itself is largely bolt on, it is not a really quick install. Correct alignment, careful handling of panels, and patience are key to achieving a proper result.
The install highlights the amount of hands on work involved, with multiple people assisting to ensure panels line up correctly and mounting points are secured without damage. Although there are no modifications required, this is not a job to rush.
WK2 SRT Kit Compatibility Explained
One of the most common questions we get is whether SRT body kits fit all WK2 models. The short answer is yes, with one important detail.
- Any SRT kit will fit a WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee
- Series 1 vehicles require a Series 1 SRT kit
- Series 2 vehicles require a Series 2 SRT kit
As long as the kit matches the vehicle series, fitment is straightforward and retains factory mounting points. Mixing Series 1 and Series 2 components will lead to alignment and fitment issues.

An important detail covered in our video is the SRT grille. While it is technically possible to reuse the standard grille, it does not sit or flow correctly with the SRT front bar.
For the kit to look right, the correct SRT grille is required. This ensures proper alignment, correct visual proportions, and an OEM finish rather than a mismatched front end.
This installation took a bit of time, mainly due to careful fitting and panel alignment. The key takeaway is that the SRT body kit is fully bolt on, with no cutting or permanent modifications required when the correct parts are used.

For anyone considering this upgrade:
- Make sure the kit matches your WK2 series
- Budget time, not just money
- Source the correct grille from the start
- Expect a multi person job for best results
If you are planning an SRT body kit conversion and want it done properly, whether for aesthetics or resale value, this is one of the cleanest OEM upgrades you can do to a WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
