5.7, 6.4 SRT & 6.2 Trackhawk:
MDS DELETE
The weak point of any Hemi engine (except the 6.2 supercharged) is the MDS system. The MDS is an emissions and fuel saving devise that deactivates cylinders whilst the demand is not present. This system results in the lifter running on the camshaft lobe with limited or no lubrication. The result is the camshaft lobe wears down and sends metal through your whole engine.
Even if you have no desire for performance upgrades it is still highly advised that as a minimum you get this MDS system deleted. The upgrade will prevent this camshaft failure from happening.

MDS DELETE WITH STAGE ONE UPGRADE
If performance, power and more noise is your thing then we recommend the stage one upgrade while getting the MDS delete carried out. for a few grand extra you can get the lumpy idle, the higher power readings and the more enjoyable drive.
The link below showcases two Jeep SRTs that received this package.
Everything you need to know about MDS deletes in Jeeps, Chryslers and Rams
MDS DELETE WITH STAGE TWO UPGRADE
Stage two upgrades are for the most part not recommended in Jeeps. The difference between a stage two and a stage one is not a power gain but rather the power increase operates latter in the rev range. This means that the power curve would kick in at higher RPM. in a big heavy vehicle such as a Jeep the high rev range is never really needed unless the vehicle is being used for serios track racing.
In our experience, fitting a stage 2 camshaft to a WK2 is not advised as it is such a heavy vehicle, only lays the power down at the higher RPM and can result in damage to the engine internals if not tuned and driven correctly.
Below is a video of one such build carried out by an alternative workshop which destroyed this Hemi engine.
PACEMAKER EXHASUT SYSTEM.
The Headers and sports exhaust is highly recommended when doing any performance upgrades to the hemi engines as the factory headers are very limiting. The Exhaust headers alone add roughly 50 Horse power at the wheels.
Below is an link to two separate articles around the exhaust systems and options is optimal Exhaust.
GDLs Recommended Exhaust system.
AFE COLD AIR INTAKE
If you have gone to the extent of the camshaft upgrade and exhaust system the next most obvious upgrade which is advised before the tune takes place is the cold air intake.
Be sure to get the correct intake as the 6.2, 6.4 and 5.7 all have differing inlet manifolds which change the angle of the throttle body. This means it’s not a case of one kit fits all and you need to order the correct intake for your engine.

TIMING CHAIN & OIL PUMP UPGRADE
The final upgrade to consider if your going through this exercise is the timing chain kit and upgraded oil pump. This only applies to the 5.7 and the 6.4.
Basically the 6.2 runs a metal timing guide while the others run a plastic guide. it is advised to upgrade to the 6.2 timing chain kit with the metal guide.
Likewise the 6.2 runs a hellcat oil pump which has a greater volume and pressure. this is advised as an upgrade to ensure your new toy maintains optimal oil pressure.
