A frequent question we are asked across a number of our social media platforms is can the turbo on a WK2 diesel be replaced without dropping the motor.
The short answer here is both yes and no. The correct way to do this repair is to drop the motor. It can be done in the car however to do this repair in the vehicle requires you to work blind and a lot of this repair is complex. Several of the gaskets are not symmetrical and can only go one way.
Our recommendation is at best remove the transmission but ideally drop the motor and do this repair the way the manufacturer intended.
