We made a video for Jeep WK2 EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee owners to explain the best oils and filters for the EcoDiesel engine. Using the right oil and filter helps keep your engine running reliably and prevents unnecessary wear or damage.
Shell is Jeep’s official partner, but we at GDL Automotive prefer Penrite based on over 20 years of experience without any issues.
Other brands, like Valvoline, are also safe to use as long as they meet the minimum standards for diesel engines. Most brands share similar basics because they all start from the same crude oil.
Jeep first recommended 5W-30 for the EcoDiesel, but later changed it to 5W-40 to help prevent engine problems such as the bearing issue. From our experience at GDL Automotive:
- If your vehicle has less than 100,000 kilometres, use 5W-40.
- If it has more than 100,000 kilometres, 10W-40 works well for extra protection.
Using the right oil grade keeps your engine healthy and performing well.
We recommend using Ryco filters. In our professional experience, they are reliable and have never caused engine problems. Get your self a R2736P Ryco Filter.
For WK2 EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee owners, the right oil and filter make a big difference. Using Penrite or Shell with the correct oil grade, plus a Ryco filter, will help your engine last longer and run smoothly.
