Good evening every one, Dannie here from GDL automotive services. I have another little video here for you This one’s explaining service intervals. This one comes up all the time in all of our shops. So, all sorts of manufacturers have all sorts of service intervals, and that is currently a big sales point. For example, Land Rover says that it only needs its own change once every 26,000 kilometers. Volkswagen saying every 18,000 or 40,000 or something like that.
What they’re not telling you in advertising campaign, and when you purchase the vehicle is the exception to this is what they call extreme conditions. If you read your owners Handbook, you’re saying that the climates, in all of Australia classify it as extreme conditions. This means that your vehicle can’t go that long without oil change, and you’re not getting told this when you buy the vehicle. The catch here is if you have a warranty claim later, they can knock your warranty back because you haven’t adhered to the service schedule, because you’re in a climate that’s classed as extreme conditions.
We recommend every 10,000 kilometers or six months, regardless of car. It’s just a failsafe you know then you’re going to be okay with any of the warranties. This is one of those unethical things that happens in the industry that we have seen warranty claims get knocked back.
