The 4XE hybrid engine in the Australian released WL Grand Cherokee have a number of active recalls open for them in Australia. The same engine is featured in American released JL Wranglers.
Our research around this matter actually found three separate recalls in place for this issue.
The Three active recalls surrounding this issue. The four recall numbers that are applicable are B9A, 04B, 68C and the most important is 95B.
Basically an internal issue with the PHEV battery unit can result in the vehicle catching on fire. Naturally this is rather serious. Dealers are under stick instructions to not sell these vehicles unless the relevant recalls have been carried out.
The recall will result in a replacement PHEV battery for your vehicle as well as a number of software related upgrades and updates.
If you own Jeep with a 4XE anywhere int he world it is strongly advised to get this rectified as soon as possible.
