2024 Ford F-150 Revealed

The 2024 Ford F-150, a global best-seller, has received updates in North America, offering a preview of what’s to come. While Australia is about to get the current version, the refreshed 2024 model will arrive roughly a year later.

The changes in the 2024 Ford F-150 are primarily cosmetic. It features a new grille, bumper, and headlights, along with a split tailgate on select models. The lower trims (XL, STX, and XLT) now come with retro-inspired LED headlights and amber daytime running lights on the grille. Higher trims (Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Platinum) get an LED signature like the F-150 Lightning.

At the back, the F-150 has redesigned tail-lights with a Lightning-like appearance and prominent F-150 lettering on the tailgate. This tailgate is now available as a ‘Pro Access Tailgate,’ allowing it to open and stay fixed at different angles for easier bed access.

Inside, a ‘Sync 4’ 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument display become standard across all models, replacing the smaller 9.0-inch screens. Additional features now standard (initially reserved for high-grade F-150 Lariat in Australia) include Ford’s ‘BlueCruise’ advanced driver assistance system and a 360-degree camera.

Safety technology gets an upgrade with ‘Available Exit Warning,’ which alerts occupants to approaching vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists when exiting the pickup.

Under the hood, the engine line-up has been streamlined. The 3.3-liter non-turbo V6 has been discontinued. Australian buyers will have the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 as their sole option. In the US, this engine can be had with hybrid assistance at no extra cost.

The F-150 caters to off-road enthusiasts with three specialized grades: Tremor, Raptor, and Raptor R, now equipped with a ‘modular’ front bumper for better accessory compatibility.

The flagship Ford F-150 Raptor retains its 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, and the Raptor R keeps its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 for 2024. Both Raptor variants now feature new Fox Dual Live Valve shocks, adjustable through the F-150’s drive modes.

The first Australian deliveries of the Ford F-150 are expected by the end of 2023, with high demand leading to a six to 12-month waiting list. The arrival date for the updated 2024 Ford F-150 in Australia is yet to be confirmed, but it’s likely to be towards the end of 2024 or early 2025. Enthusiasts eagerly await the next chapter in the Ford F-150’s history.
