Sydney Man Charged for Allegedly Keying Tesla’s

Authorities in New South Wales have charged a man for allegedly vandalizing multiple vehicles, including three Teslas, in northwest Sydney. The incident occurred in a Schofields Shopping Centre car park on February 18, 2024, resulting in repair costs exceeding $10,000.

New South Wales Police responded to a call at the shopping centre car park, leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old man. The arrest followed an earlier appeal for public information regarding damage inflicted on vehicles at various shopping centre car parks.

Authorities claim the suspected offender was found in possession of a three-bladed metal multi-tool. He has been charged with six counts of malicious damage and one count of possessing an offensive implement in a public space.

The vandalized vehicles, including unspecified Audi and Mercedes-Benz models, along with a Volkswagen Golf in addition to the three Teslas, were reportedly damaged between January and February 2024 at shopping center car parks in Box Hill, Rouse Hill, and Schofields.

Repair costs for the damaged vehicles exceed $10,000 according to New South Wales authorities. The suspected offender has been taken into police custody and is expected to face court proceedings.

Under New South Wales law, individuals found guilty of intentionally damaging another person’s property can face severe penalties, including up to five years of imprisonment.
