In international car markets, Tesla, Lucid, Rivian & Polestar are removing the middle man of new car sales by doing away with the dealership. These brands sell direct to the consumer and some of the other big name brands look set to follow suit. Honda to name one has expressed an interest in exploring the sales model that will see the car lot and car salesmen in a cheap suit removed from the process.
The concept is being rolled out in the USA markets with the Honda, Acura sales of a product called Afeela1.

Allegedly the company also plans to remove the servicing component from the dealership network too.
The move has received some major back lash from the dealership network within the USA. Many dealerships taking legal action against the manufacturer for this move.
Whilst this is all occurring Volkswagen group have also expressed intentions to follow suit with a vehicle called a Scout.
Its currently unclear if the manufacturers intend to follow this plan in the Australian market and if they do, if the laws the dealerships are contesting apply to the Australian market.
The legal fall out from this may take a few years to resolve itself, however it is likely that this model of motor vehicle sales is the future for the automotive market.
