There’s conflicting reports out there but I’ve led to believe that the RMS (now Service New South Wales) has abolished the qualification required to legally fit baby seats. This means that anybody can do it now, which is a little concerning, given that you’re potentially strapping in this kind of precious cargo. So my recommendation is continue to stick with those companies that do advertise qualification for fitting baby seats, even though that’s not a legal requirement anymore. If you can’t get to one of them at least get to a mechanic that knows a bit about cars and the safety straps that are involved.
The concern is, as honorable as your husband’s intentions are. He may not know, the correct way to fit a babay seat and in the event of an accident you want to have those seats in correctly. The qualification doesn’t seem to exist anymore, but it’s still worth making sure it’s fitted by someone who’s been trained in how to do this. Thanks that’s Dannie from GDL Automotive.
