Today we are going to address a question that comes up frequently from Toyota owners, people looking to buy a Toyota or automotive fans. Is the Brand Toyota still unbreakable?
In the early 2000s the British comedic Automotive show, Top gear ran a three part series in which they attempted to kill a Toyota Hilux. This vehicle was thrown from tall buildings, hit with a wreaking ball and even submerged in the ocean. With some minor electrical work after all this the beaten and battered Hilux still started and ran. This was consistent with the reputation the manufacturer had for being an “Unbreakable” product.
Is the same still true today?
Sadly not. Whilst the brand is still exceptional (we even own a 2015 model Hilux) it simply is not what it used to be.
Toyota is still an exceptional brand and we do highly recommend them both as new vehicles and as used cars. ten to fifteen years ago the vehicles were made to a standard that seems to have slowly slipped in moe recent years. The days of owning a Toyota and driving it forty thousand kilometres with out a service are gone. a modern Toyota will not forgive you for this behaviour where as the olde vehicles will be far more forgiving of negligence and mistreatment.
