SsangYong Officially Rebrands as KGM Australia From June 2025

From June 1, 2025, the SsangYong name will officially disappear from Australian showrooms, with the brand now fully rebranded as KGM Australia.

The move follows global changes under new parent company KG Group, which renamed the brand KGM in 2023. Australia held onto “KGM SsangYong” branding until now, but the launch of the 2025 Actyon SUV marks the beginning of a new chapter.

“It’s timely we fully embrace the KGM branding,” said managing director Joseph Lee, noting the rebrand aligns with KGM’s updated design language and global direction.

The Actyon, a coupe styled SUV based on the Torres, starts from $47,000 drive away and comes with a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine. It joins the Musso, Rexton, Torres, and Korando, which will retain the old winged logo for now, but not the SsangYong name.

While the SsangYong name has been around Australia since the late 1990s, the brand faced ups and downs including a market hiatus in 2016 before returning in 2018 under factory-backed distribution. This rebrand to KGM signals a fresh start aimed at modernising the line up and improving market relevance.

Electric vehicles are a big focus for KGM, with the Torres EVX electric SUV and Musso EV ute both slated for Australian release soon. These EV models will play a key role in helping the brand meet tightening emissions regulations and shifting consumer demands.

KGM’s new slogan, “Korean Built to Last,” sums up its commitment to quality and durability as it looks to grow in Australia’s competitive SUV and Ute segments.
